This Is Why People Love The Remote Area Group (RACG)
The RACG is made up of representatives of the heavy vehicle industry, road agencies, and local governments. It was formed in 2004 and has been influential in shaping national processes and legislation. It has also contributed to the development of Fatigue Accreditation and Performance Based Standards and advises the Infrastructure and Transport Senior Officials’ Committee (ITSOC) and Ministers’ Meeting (MTOM). Several other Australian states and territories host the RACG meetings.
The RACG meets bi-annually. The host state rotates every two years between major transport and infrastructure agencies. The next host is South Australia, which will hold 5 meetings during this time. Western Australia will host the group’s meetings in 2021 and 2022. In the meantime, the RACG will continue to advise the ITSOC and Ministers’ Meeting. In addition to regional groups, the RACG also advises government departments and agencies on remote issues.
