The tax, which was introduced to help fund the reactivation of the state’s tourism sector, has caused some confusion because it is not similar to either the Mexico tourism tax that is attached to airline tickets or the environmental taxes collected at most all-inclusive resorts.

Visitax is required for all foreign visitors to the state of Quintana roo, including Cancun, Cozumel, and Tulum. The tax is mandatory for all international visitors over the age of 4. It is 224 pesos per person for a maximum stay of 180 days.
To avoid lines at airports and other points of entry into the country, you can now get your Mexican visitax processed online ahead of time. The online process is quick, simple, and hassle-free. Within an hour, you will receive a pass via email that you need to present before boarding your flight.
The VISITAX online form is available at www.visitaxmexico.com and also at arrival terminals 2 and 4 at Cancun International Airport. The VISITAX payment modules are staffed by bilingual staff to assist travelers with the process and to answer any questions. It is recommended to complete the VISITAX online form before your trip so you have all of your travel documents in order and don’t run into any issues at airports or during check-in at hotels.
